How Telehealth Care Works
Alpha 1 Labs partners with OutfitMD to coordinate clinical telehealth evaluations. When you check medical eligibility, your information is routed to OutfitMD, who schedules a telehealth visit with a prescriber. If approved, you are prescribed a medication and may then purchase it. Alpha 1 Labs is not a medical practice or pharmacy and does not practice medicine or dispense medication.
Medical evaluation and prescribing services are provided by independently licensed medical providers through OutfitMD. Provider eligibility and licensure are verified for the patient's state before care is delivered. Prescribing providers are independently licensed physicians and advanced practice clinicians, licensed in the state in which the patient is located at the time of the consultation. Alpha 1 Labs does not employ prescribers and does not influence clinical decisions.
How Telehealth Care Works
1. Complete Your Health Intake
Patients provide relevant health history, current medications, symptoms, treatment goals, and other information required for clinical review.
2. Licensed Provider Evaluation
A licensed medical provider reviews the patient's information and conducts a synchronous (real-time) telehealth evaluation under applicable state law. Purely asynchronous (store-and-forward) evaluation is not used to issue an initial prescription. Submitting an intake or payment does not guarantee a prescription.
3. Individualized Treatment Decision
The licensed provider independently determines whether treatment is medically appropriate, which therapy may be appropriate, and whether additional testing or follow-up is required.
4. Pharmacy Fulfillment
When medication is prescribed, the prescription is transmitted to an applicable licensed pharmacy partner for preparation and dispensing. Alpha 1 Labs does not prescribe or dispense medication.
5. Follow-Up & Monitoring
Follow-up care, laboratory monitoring, treatment adjustments, and ongoing medical evaluation are determined by the treating provider based on the patient's individual clinical needs.
Telehealth services are available only where the treating provider is appropriately licensed and where applicable law permits the service.
Consultation Format
Synchronous video or telephone visit — your choice when scheduling.
Typical Duration
~10–20 minutes per visit, depending on protocol. Follow-ups are shorter.
Scheduling Timeline
OutfitMD typically contacts you within 24–48 business hours to schedule your visit.
Informed Consent
Acknowledged electronically before any treatment is prescribed.
The Consultation Process, Step by Step
1. Check Medical Eligibility
You click the Check Medical Eligibility button and submit a confidential health-history intake through Alpha 1 Labs. Your information is routed directly to our medical provider partner OutfitMD. Your Protected Health Information (PHI) is transmitted to OutfitMD and applicable laboratory partners — Alpha 1 Labs does not retain PHI in its own systems.
Includes current medications, symptoms, treatment goals, and relevant biomarker panel results.
2. Schedule a Telehealth Visit
OutfitMD receives your intake and contacts you to schedule a telehealth visit with a prescriber. You select a synchronous video or telephone consultation at a time that works for you.
Typical scheduling timeline: within 24–48 business hours after a complete intake is received.
3. Telehealth Consultation (Video or Phone)
You have a synchronous video or telephone consultation conducted directly with a prescriber through OutfitMD. The prescriber reviews your health history and determines whether treatment is clinically appropriate and safe for you.
Typical duration: 10–20 minutes, depending on protocol complexity. Follow-up visits are usually shorter.
4. Prescription & Purchase
If the prescriber determines treatment is appropriate, a patient-specific prescription is issued to a licensed 503A compounding pharmacy partner. You may then purchase the prescribed medication, which is compounded and shipped directly to your door in cold-chain packaging.
No prescription is ever issued without a clinical evaluation by a prescriber.
What to Expect During Your Visit
Video Visit
A face-to-face secure video consultation conducted through OutfitMD's telehealth platform. Ensure you have a stable internet connection, a private location, and a device with a working camera and microphone.
Phone Visit
A telephone consultation with a prescriber. Useful where video is not available or not preferred. Be in a quiet, private location where you can speak freely about your health.
In either format, the prescriber will review your health history and biomarker data, discuss treatment goals and risks, answer your questions, and determine whether a prescribed protocol is clinically appropriate for you. A physical hands-on examination is not possible during a telehealth visit; if clinical findings warrant in-person evaluation, the prescriber may recommend a follow-up.
Informed Consent & the Telehealth Consent Form
Before any treatment is prescribed, you must read and acknowledge the Telehealth Informed Consent. This document explains the nature, expected benefits, and potential risks and limitations of telehealth services, the validity of prescriptions, and your rights as a patient — including the right to withdraw consent at any time.
By submitting your medical intake and proceeding with a clinical consultation, you certify that you have read, understood, and agree to the Informed Consent document in its entirety.
Privacy: Health information submitted through clinical intake, medical evaluation, or laboratory workflows is transmitted directly to OutfitMD and/or applicable laboratory partners. Alpha 1 Labs does not use its own systems as the system of record for clinical records or laboratory results.
Regulatory & Telehealth Compliance
Alpha 1 Labs and our medical provider partner OutfitMD follow federal and state telehealth, prescribing, and compounding requirements. The disclosures below explain how consultations are conducted and how compliance is maintained.
Synchronous Video Consultation Required
Clinical evaluations are conducted as real-time, synchronous video (or telephone) visits conducted directly between you and a prescriber through OutfitMD — not as questionnaire-only or automated approvals. The prescriber reviews your medical history and any relevant laboratory results with you during the live visit before determining whether treatment is clinically appropriate. Purely asynchronous (store-and-forward) evaluation is not used to issue an initial prescription.
Ryan Haight Act Compliance
The Ryan Haight Online Pharmacy Consumer Protection Act requires that no controlled substance may be dispensed by means of the internet without a valid prescription issued after at least one in-person medical evaluation, except where an applicable DEA exception (such as a telehealth exception) applies. Where any controlled substance is considered, OutfitMD's prescribers follow the applicable federal and state requirements, and Alpha 1 Labs and OutfitMD do not prescribe controlled substances based solely on an online questionnaire or payment. For non-controlled compounded preparations, every prescription still requires a live clinical evaluation by a prescriber.
Valid Prescriber-Patient Relationship
A prescription is issued only after a prescriber establishes a valid prescriber-patient relationship. This requires verification of your identity and current state of residence, review of your health history and relevant biomarker labs, a live (synchronous) clinical evaluation, and an independent medical determination by the prescriber that the requested treatment is appropriate, safe, and indicated for you. No prescription is ever issued automatically based solely on questionnaire submission or payment.
State-Specific Telehealth Rules
Telehealth and prescribing rules vary by state. OutfitMD's prescribers evaluate patients only in states where they are authorized to practice and where the treatment is permitted, and they follow each state's telehealth, prescribing, and controlled-substance requirements. Our State Availability page reflects where services are currently offered. If a clinician cannot legally or clinically provide care in your state, your intake will not result in a prescription.
This page is for general education and is not legal or medical advice. Telehealth and prescribing requirements are subject to change; OutfitMD's prescribers follow the rules applicable at the time and in the state where you are located.
Telehealth Is Not for Medical Emergencies
If you experience a medical emergency, call 911 immediately or go to the nearest hospital emergency room. Do not rely on electronic communications or portal messages for urgent medical needs.
